South India has a rich history of powerful kingdoms and naval conquests. Here are a few notable South Indian kingdoms and their naval exploits:

  1. Chola Dynasty: The Chola Dynasty, which thrived from the 9th to the 13th centuries, was known for its maritime achievements and naval conquests. The Chola kings built a formidable navy that dominated the Indian Ocean trade routes. They conducted successful naval expeditions to various regions, including Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, and the Maldives. The Cholas also established overseas colonies and exerted influence over neighboring kingdoms.

  2. Pandya Dynasty: The Pandya Dynasty, another prominent kingdom in South India, had a strong naval presence. The Pandyas engaged in maritime trade and built a powerful navy to protect their interests. They conducted naval expeditions to Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, establishing trade links and cultural exchanges with these regions.

  3. Chera Dynasty: The Chera Dynasty, located in present-day Kerala, was also involved in maritime trade and naval activities. The Cheras established trade connections with ancient Rome and the Arab world, facilitating the exchange of goods and ideas. They were known for their proficiency in shipbuilding and seafaring.

  4. Vijayanagara Empire: The Vijayanagara Empire, which flourished from the 14th to the 17th centuries, had a substantial naval force. The empire controlled major ports along the western coast of South India, such as Calicut and Goa, and engaged in maritime trade with merchants from the Middle East, Europe, and other parts of Asia.

  5. Maratha Empire: Although the Maratha Empire was primarily based in Western India, it extended its influence to parts of South India. The Marathas had a formidable navy known as the Maratha Navy or Maratha Sarkhel. They conducted naval campaigns along the western and eastern coasts of India, asserting control over key ports and trade routes.

 Concept of Maya (illusion ) is given by the great Indian  Philosopher,Teacher ,Saint  Adi Shankarcharya in 9th Century A.D. in his Advaita Philosophy. Ashoka There are only two kings in India which usually titled as The Great !
